Have You Ever Compared Voter I-D Laws against how the Left & Liberals treat the Second Amendment?
Lets take a bit of time to compare voter identification laws against the Second Amendment. Why such a comparison? Simple, the Second Amendment is after all the "second" amendment to the Constitution and since it is close to the top of the amendment list and since the Supreme Court has recognized it's standing as a true "right", I thought it would be nice to put it up against the various voter identification laws being put in place around the country (33 states) that liberals love to whine about so much. Since we know how much liberals love the Second Amendment it should be an interesting comparison to say the least.
Now when it comes to gun rights, liberals and the left are all for and always looking for, new ways to restrict a right that is obviously guaranteed by the Constitution. The left wants criminal history checks, waiting periods, restrictions on the type of weapons, restrictions on magazine capacity, restrictions on ammunition and the list goes on and on. In some cases they want an outright ban on ownership depending on where you live. Now as we all know when you purchase a firearm from a licensed legitimate dealer you will need to produce a valid photo identification card issued by your home state showing your address and other personal data. This information is compared to the information you put down on the paperwork that is required and it must match, down to your home address and your date of birth. Most of us know this and for the most part don't have an issue with the requirements. Gun owners around the country view these regulations as acceptable and understand that they are reasonable in nature. Keep in mind that the Constitution ensures "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".
When it comes to voters rights the left seems to feel it is the single most important thing in the world, as a matter of fact its so important you can do it anonymously. I happen to feel that as a citizen of the United States you should vote. I do not believe you have an obligation or that you can be legally compelled to, but you should vote. Voting gives citizens a voice in the government and as such should be taken seriously. People should have only one vote, period. Keep in mind that though there are many references to voting in the Constitution no where will you find it as a "right". For that matter voting rights have been changed over the decades many times. So the next time you hear how its a "constitutional right" ask someone to show you that "right" in writing in the Constitution. Also consider the courts have held that even with well established Constitutional rights congress and elected officials can regulate the activity so long as it is reasonable in its nature and does not stop people from enjoying the right that is being regulated.
As I said above gun owners see the regulations and rules on gun purchases for the most part as being reasonable as long as it doesn't prevent or ban ownership. Also as I said above the Second Amendment is clearly defined as a true "right". Yet, when it comes to voter i-d laws the left seems to have a completely different set of standards. Do you believe you could purchase a firearm without showing government issued photo identification? What about without giving your home address, as shown on your identification by the way? Or better yet, what about not showing your face to the dealer? Since the dealer is required to verify it is you buying the weapon he would need to see your face right? So if we all agree with what I have just said and we agree like it or not that the Second Amendment is a true "right", why is the left so busy crying about voter i-d laws?
To me when you look at something that most normal people would say is reasonable such as showing your drivers license for a couple of seconds, I start to wonder why all the fuss? Why would anyone care that people are trying to ensure that when people vote that it is really them? Is it too much to ask that when someone votes you know who it is or where they live? Apparently for the left it is. So why do you think that is? Could it be they have an agenda? I think the answer is obvious don't you?
