PA: No Budget 7 Years in a Row - Gov. wants 16% Tax Increase

Well its the end of the fiscal year for most states, ugly as it may have been. In Pennsylvania its kind of the same old thing over and over again. Governor Ed Rendell(D), is once again at a stand still on the budget, what a surprise. Yes I know a lot of states are facing red ink, so is Pennsylvania but that's not what I am talking about.

You see Rendell has been in office for 7 years now, thankfully we get rid of him next year no matter what. Rendell is the poster boy for the motto "Shitty but Consistent". This will be the 7th year in a row were Pennsylvania will not have a budget for the upcoming year in place. 7 times straight, he has one more left he might make it to 8 in a row. According to his office, don't expect one in the next couple of weeks.

As I told you before, Rendell warned state employees that they must come to work even if they don't get paid. Since he did that 2 months ago, it would be safe to assume he knew there was no budget forthcoming. Pennsylvania is looking at a $3 billion shortfall for next year, according to Rendell he is about $1.8 billion away from reaching a deal with the Senate and the House. With Rendell's proposal of a 16% raise in personal income taxes, the Republicans appear to have dug in for the long haul.

Rendell, the former Philadelphia Mayor and head of the Democratic National Committee, has been the king of increasing the amount of spending in PA. Under Rendell the rate of spending has increased 39%, while during the same time period, inflation increased only 18%, by most peoples math he has increased real spending by at least 21%.

Now he is arranging loans with local credit unions to get state employees money since they won't be getting paychecks. I don't know what he will do next but I can't wait to see, it should be interesting. Pennsylvania like the rest of the country is having difficult times, but maybe if we did not have anywhere from 35% to 51% of the state spending going to "social" programs, we might not be as bad a position as we are. The difference in the 2 numbers is depending on what you count as social.

No we are not California, but this does prove if a state Like Pa is going to move forward we will need a new direction in the future, probably one that leans a little more on the fiscally Conservative side. Something voters may want to keep in mind next year.

Obama's new Middle East Plan - Chicago Style, Buy them Off

It appears that one way Obama is trying to influence countries in the Middle East is by buying them off. The problem is we don't have any money, but hey we can always prints more right? Aid to Muslim countries has increased dramatically in the past few months.

For Pakistan, Obama has proposed $2.8 billion in military aid, along with another $1.5 billion in civilian aid. That's a pretty good chunk of change, whats really standing out here is that Obama criticized the Bush administration for giving military aid to Pakistan, now is seems things are different because he is doing it, Ok.

Jordan, Obama has added an additional $150 million to the $363 million they already receive. That will bring the total to $513 million. Jordan's Minister of Planning, explained to a Jordanian newspaper the the additional American aid was the result of ongoing efforts by Jordan's King, and the recognition by Obama of the important role Jordan plays in the region.

For Egypt they get an additional $310 million according to the House under Pelosi, but get this, they already receive $2.5 billion a year. This would be Egypt, home of the Pyramids and of course where Obama gave his world changing speech.

The Palestinian Authority gets $600 million plus another $300 million for aid in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas. Also, with plans to put up to $130 million in training for police training, that takes the total to over $1 billion.

Don't forget Obama has given his support to the United Arab Emirates to become the first Arab nation with a nuclear power infrastructure. Also the US government has petitioned the US Supreme court to preserve sovereign immunity for the Saudi Arabia and four Saudi Princes in connection with a civil case looking for compensation from the 9/11 attacks. You remember those right?

I was wrong about one thing on Obama, I knew he was from Chicago and it does now appear he knows a little history. It looks like he read the parts with Al Capone in it.

Is Iran More Dangerous now, than Before the Election?

Now that the world has seen the way Iran handles dissent from within, the real concern should be focused on what the Iranians will do next. If Ahmadinejad sees himself as being weakened by the election, would he try to whip up nationalism, as North Korea is doing, in order to strengthen his position at home? That's a very real concern or should be for the west and Israel.

Even if Ahmadinejad is not feeling pressure, he could feel emboldened to take some kind of action. With his Revolutionary Guard saving the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei from great embarrassment and even possible revolution, he would no doubt get a great deal of play from him in any adventure he make start. Even as dense as Obama appears to be there is no chance he misunderstood the fact that the Iranians have no interest in what he is saying. They are bent on nuclear weapons and unless military force is used, they will obtain them.

The fact that the elections turned out the way they did not only means talking with Iran is off the table, but it also shows Israel they are on their own when it comes to dealing with Iran. Israel knows that the UN will never authorize a military strike against Iran and they further have every reason to believe Obama would not wish to do so anyway. Without US leadership the UN will do nothing but watch and report as Iran moves forward.

Look for things with Hamas and/or Hezbollah to start picking up, if it does this is a sure sign Iran is stirring the pot. The outright use of military force by Iran would indicate they are feeling more pressure than they make it appear. Nationalism is an old trick used by dictators for centuries, this would not be the first nor the last time something like this occurred. They have trotted out all the old whipping horses in the United States and the UK, even though Obama took a great deal of heat and still is over his weak and poor response of the election and its aftermath.

If Ahmadinejad believes he has a "green light" from the "Supreme Leader" he may very well strike out at US or Israeli interests in the region. For the first time since Obama took office it appears that Washington and Jerusalem may share the same beliefs.

56 Men who changed History - America and the World owe them a great Debt

I received an e-mail from a friend of mine the other day that I thought was worth sharing. It gives people some kind of idea what the true cost was for our founding fathers. They gets bashed a lot now, they were slave owners, they were religious zealots, you name it and they have probably been called it. The truth is far different, these people gave all for the founding of America, in some cases their lives.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors and were tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

Nine of the men fought and died from wounds or hardships from the Revolutionary War.

Two lost sons serving in the war, two others had sons captured.

What kind of men were these to do such things?

24 were lawyers or jurists. 11 were merchants, 9 were farmers and large plantation owners, men of means, well educated for the day, but they signed knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virgina, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and he died in rags.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge and Middleton.
Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, where she died a few months later.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire with cannons. The home was destroyed and Nelson died bankrupt.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, upon returning home he found his wife dead and his children vanished.

Its just food for thought, with the 4th of July holiday coming. Maybe when we celebrate Independence Day, we can remember what it costs to be free. We need to remember : Freedom is Never Free!

Automakers take a beating in the 1st Quarter - Even Imports

The automakers both import and domestic have released sales number for the first quarter of 2009. They may surprise you, what I was looking at was the cash numbers, or profits if any. The common belief is that the imports are doing well while the domestic brands suffer. Not true according to numbers released by the companies themselves.

With the cuts in the works for General Motors, they will end up more the size of Ford than Toyota. They did manage to hold a 18.5% market share, which out paced Toyota or Ford. The loss numbers below should scare you to death based on the fact that the US taxpayer now owns close to 70% of GM, hence Government Motors. The UAW union could get 20% for itself, not much left over is there? Take a look at this list, everybody is going to want a Jetta soon. Remember these are first quarter losses only:

Toyota -$6.9 Billion General Motors - $6.0 Billion Honda Motors - $2.9 Billion (first quarterly loss in 15 years) Nissan Motors - $2.8 Billion Ford Motors - $1.4 Billion

Now look at this, profits: Volkswagen AG + $0.3 Billion Hyundai Motor + $0.2 Billion

Springfield Armory's M1A1 - Still on top of the Game

It has been said that what was old becomes new again at some point, the Springfield Armory's M1A1 series of rifles is proof of this. They make the civilian version of the military M-14, the difference being that the M-14 has a selector switch located at the rear of the receiver which allowed the weapon to fire on full auto. While the M-14 had a short service life as it was replaced by the M-16 series, it was to because the weapon lacked anything, the M-16 was smaller, lighter, and fired a small 5.56m round which meant troops could carry more ammo in the field. Remember Vietnam was a war were we expended large amounts of ammo per "kill". The M-16 meant troops could carry more. One other important thing was the M-16 could be fired fully auto and still hit the target. With the M-14, that's a lot harder to do, the 7.62mm round(308Win) packs a bigger punch and more recoil which makes the weapon very hard to control in auto fire.

The M-14 has been brought back into service in a big way recently with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and it has been been used by the Navy on board ships and has been kept busy in Winter Warfare scenarios. The M-14 is turning up all over with scopes mounted to it, in the hands of snipers and designated marksman, its longer range and hard hitting caliber make it a lethal weapon indeed. Springfield has been making the rifle for decades and has never made enough of them. It seems like no matter how many they make, they could sell more. They 3 different size versions, the SOCOM 16, being the smallest, it has a 16.25 inch barrel, hence the name. With its scope rails mounted forward of the receiver it provides a fast handling weapon in close quarters situations. Mounting an Aim Point or Halo sight of some version makes it shoot like a much smaller rifle. The next in line is the Squad Scout, it has an 18" barrel, again it has its scope rails mounted in front of the receiver. This is probably the best choice for most people for a general purpose rifle, you can use it as a full size weapon but it is still almost 6" shorter than a standard rifle. With both of these, the flash hider reduces recoil to very comfortable levels, its really a pleasant surprise. They both also take the standard M-14 magazines.

That leaves only full size weapons left, the standard rifle has a 22" barrel, weighs in at about 9.3lbs, comes with either a black composite stock or a walnut version, it features a 2 stage military trigger and the standard military flash hider. This weapon is a semi only version of the M-14. You can mount a scope to this weapon and have a very effective semi auto marksman's rifle. Ask the military. Then you move into the Nation Match versions and work you way up to the M-21. If you want a semi auto capable of sub 1 inch groups, this is the rifle. It gains a few pounds along the way to come in at 11.6lbs, without mounting optics. It features match barrel options, a tuned 2 stage trigger and a glass bedded stock. Its 44.3" long and has a 1 in 10 twist rate which helps stabilize heavier match bullets.

My M-21 shoots about 1" groups with either Federal, Winchester or Remington 168 Match ammo. The weight comes in nice when firing for speed on targets out past say 50 or 75 yards. Head shots are easy and fast, moving from target to target is a snap. Law Enforcement agencies looking for a marksman's rifle for their tactical teams have found these to be valuable alternatives to bolts. While I don't believe they are as accurate as a good bolt, how much more do you need than less than a 1 inch group. These rifles offer speed and multiple target engagement capability that bolts can't come close to. With 20 rounds on tap without reloading against 4 or 5, a semi action against the bolt, its not much of a race. If multiple targets need to be engaged, say 3 to 5, one shooter with a bolt is in trouble unless the targets cooperate. With the M1A1, depending on the operator, taking hits on 3 targets in 5 seconds is possible, 5 hits in under 9 or 10 seconds at 100 yards is done all the time.

Remember these weapons are firing 7.62mm rounds, they hit hard and not many people have ever complained about the stopping power of the rifle as compared to the 5.56mm(223Rem). The main complaint about the M-16 series is the caliber, in the Middle East multiple reports have come out of hitting people 2 or 3 times in the chest and they keep standing and fighting. To my knowledge, none have complained about hitting someone with 2 or 3 rounds from an M-14 and having them fight on. Yes the military put out contracts for a semi auto snipers weapon in 7.62mm, and some day they will get them into the field in large numbers. But nobody in the military sees the M-14 going anywhere anytime soon. Clinton had thousands of these rifles destroyed, fortunately for the military they didn't get them all.

If you want a dependable, hard hitting rifle or carbine its hard to beat the M1A1, if you want a semi auto capable of great speed and accuracy look at the National Match or M-21 versions. If your not an "M-16 fan ", this may be the rifle for you.

Secret letter sent to Iran shows Obama sold out the protester's before the Election Started

It has been leaked out by the Iranian state media that President Obama sent a secret letter Ayatollah Ali Khamenei before the elections expressing support for Mahmoud Ahamadinejad and the current regime. The letter expressed a desire for "bilateral" talks and cooperation in the region. This would go a long way to explaining why Obama did not react to the obvious fraudulent election.

The Iranians are releasing this in an obvious attempt to shame and embarrass Obama, too bad they don't know he has no shame. The Iranians are saying, "How are we to know which version is correct, one day he supports us, the next he does not?". Good point. Another thing that seems kind of funny is that a day after Obama refused to dis invite the Iranians for the 4th of July, Robert Gibbs after hearing of the release about the letter from the Iranians took back the invitation.

I wonder how the world will react when they find out the President of the United States sold out the Iranian people before the election even took place. The word "honor" is not in his vocabulary. Clerics in Iran are now calling for the protesters to be executed, their blood will be on his hands should this take place. This is yet another example of a bungled attempt at foreign policy by Obama. Trying to send secret letters to a dictatorship which hates you is not only wrong, its just plain dumb. It shows the world how low he is will to stoop for his own agenda.

This also points out how bad the mainstream media is in this country, this is a huge story and no one except the Iranians and Israeli's are talking about it. I believe it was the Washington Post who has a small article about it. Were is the New York or LA Times Now? Were is the liberal outrage, were are the screams about human rights? I'm sure the Obama administration is trying to cover this up, its embarrassing to be made to look like a fool by yet another dictator.

Sarah Palin in Kosovo visiting Alaska National Guard Unit - 2012 ?

Alaska's Governor, Sarah Palin is visiting troops from the Alaskan National Guard that are stationed in Kosovo. She is visiting members of the 270th Aviation Regiment who are providing support with the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters they fly. Judging from the pictures the 140 members of the unit were happy to see her.

This is the type of "experience" she was criticized for lacking during the campaign last year, it seems in the media's eyes she did not have enough, but some how they believed Barack Obama did. Palin will be back in Alaska by the beginning of the week. If she takes a couple more trips like this one and gets a few more awards from various groups who believe in her or like her positions, like the one a few weeks back in New York, you never know what could develop. I'm sure the mainstream media will still find a way to criticize her, but it may not matter this time out.

One thing is for sure, by keeping herself active and raising her profile she becomes a viable threat for 2012. I'm not sure when or if she will decide to run, but if she does it would seem that no one has an on line network built up the way she does. The people who support her have not gone away, as a matter of fact she seems to be getting stronger the worse the country gets, this can not be said for some other Republicans that may enter the field.

Watch for a few more trips like this, if they start occurring on a more regular basis, 2012 may very well see Sarah Palin at the top of the ticket, something a lot of people on the conservative side wanted the last time around.

Iranian Dissident's asking Israel for Help? YES!

You read that right, Iranian anti-regime activists are hoping to get Israeli tech people to help overcome the Iranian media blackout. One activist a Arash Irandoost, "Iran needs your help now more than ever. And we will be eternally grateful. Please help opposition television and radio stations which are blocked and being jammed by the Islamic Republic".

There are reports coming out of Iran of 500 plus dead and thousands injured. With a media blackout the movement can't gain steam as no one knows that anyone else around the country is protesting. The Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has spoken and this election is over in his opinion. There are also reports that as many as 10,000 militia people who speak only Arabic are on the streets in Tehran and armed.

The United States has the capacity to broadcast into Iran at will, using the VOA. If that does not work through normal channels the US Air Force is more than capable of doing the job and has done so many times in many many places around the world. One interesting report is that several protesters are talking about taking up arms against the regime, I bet they wish they had the NRA in Iran, or how about a 2nd Amendment.

Obama Blinks on North Korea - Another lie is Exposed

The spin the Obama team had going about their tough response to North Korea is now being exposed as nothing but a lie. Defense Undersecretary Michele Flournoy made the announcement on Friday, in Seoul, South Korea. As Flournoy stated, "The UN resolution does not sponsor or authorize the use of force for interdiction". She further went onto state: "Washington has ruled out the use of military force to inspect the North Korean freighter".

So what is the point of following the thing around? We are just wasting fuel in our Destroyer's, how green is that? Where is our famous Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, did she fall down and break her mouth too? Could it be that the Obama administration with the help of the mainstream media lied to the American public, with the story of how tough Obama was being on North Korea?

What this shows is that a two bit, tin pot, dictator has no respect for the President of the United States. He knows as I have said many times before, Obama is weak, naive and confused. He is nothing but hot air, the only people he stands up to are those he can bully with various intimidation tactics. When will the Democrats understand you can not put on stage shows and give speech's to people and expect them to bow to you(something Obama is familiar with), only the US media buy into the crap and try to peddle it to the public. The rest of the world, not under his control, think he's a fool.

You have North Korea having large anti-American protests, threatening to take military action against us if we stop their ship, so it looks like to all the world we backed down, which we did. Maybe I grew up in a different America, but I thought launching a missile at the US was an act of war. Even threatening to do so was something you just did not do. And don't come up with the George Bush story, why do you think the North and the Iranians started do this now? Even the most ardent Obama supporters have to admit, this is not happening by chance. Wow, how much things have changed in the past few months.

John Kerry wants Sarah Palin to "Come up Missing" - Up-coming Polar Bear Hunt Announced

A couple days ago Senator John Kerry, made the statement "that if a governor had to come up missing, too bad it wasn't the governor from Alaska". Really, maybe we could have Senator Kerry take an all expense paid polar bear hunt to Alaska this fall. Kerry made the point during the 2004 election that he was a hunter, he "remembered crawling on his belly with his shotgun" while deer hunting. This technique should work out great for polars bears. Maybe if we raise enough money we could even get a ticket for his wife to go with him. That way all that Republican money she is spending, her deceased husbands, could go to a good cause, say the NRA.

All kidding aside, how much of a belligerent ass is John Kerry? To think that if was not for Ohio that fool would be president. This is not an unusual occurrence in the Democratic party. Look at Al Gore, he's scary. If they lose they melt down and the real person comes out. Kerry's comment is way out of line and he knows it.

I can see why John Kerry doesn't like Sarah Palin, she may end up in an office, he will never get to. Character counts, too bad he doesn't have any.

What's Going on in Iraq ? Is this Guy to Blame ?

It seems that the media is not covering this, but when George Bush was in office they could not get enough bad news, but things have taken a turn for the worse in the last couple weeks in Iraq and you don't hear much about it. The reason they are not covering it is obvious. But that doesn't mean its not happening.

3 bomb blasts in the last 4 days have killed over 170 people and wounded scores more. The bombings have picked up for two reasons. The first is that US troops are pulling out of the cities and turning over security to Iraqi forces, that alone is a big enough challenge. The question will now be can the Iraqi forces stand up to the forces trying to bring down the country. This is what is wrong with giving the enemy a "date certain" on what your are doing. That's water over the dam now, we will move forward and see what develops.

The other thing, the part the media is not talking about, is a guy named Muqtada Al-Sadr. This radical cleric is in and out of Iran on a regular basis. At one point, when we were looking to arrest him, the Iranians gave him a place to go and stay safe. In the past he has organized several uprisings against the American forces including a couple where we cornered him in Mosques and he would not come out until the Iraqi government agreed not to put him in jail. Sadr is responsible for countless American deaths, not to mention the Iraqi dead. He is a tool of Iran, and since they seem to be blaming us for their election problems they may have had a role in the recent problems.

Obama was cowering in a corner not saying anything about the Iranian elections for fear he would upset them and they would cause problems in Iraq. Guess what? It didn't work. That's why you never compromise your principles and beliefs. The core of America is freedom, that's what the world knows us for. Sadr's militia is on the streets again, in a smaller role no doubt. But these bombings have really picked up in the past couple weeks. American commanders are saying they believe the violence will increase at least in the short term. A General Lanza is blaming the Sunni insurgents for trying to restart sectarian violence and push the country to civil war.

It looks like if you combine a known time frame and a group of people sponsored by Iran, you get the increased chances that Iraq could end up in a civil war without the American troops providing a stabilizing force. One thing is certain, the media will not tell anyone that Sadr is most likely to blame because of his ties to Iran. The whole Iranian thing is a huge problem for the Obama administration and the way they handled it. Time will tell, but look for "Mooky" Sadr to play a role, a role that does not favor the United States, but his masters in Iran are a different story.

Congress & Liberals trying to snake through the "Cap & Trade" Bill!

The House of Representatives is voting on "Cap & Trade" on Friday, they are calling it the "Energy Bill". Obama has a press conference on Tuesday but nobody brings it up, where is the press on this? This is the biggest tax on the United States in its history. This bill is a fund raiser for the Obama agenda at the expense of America.

Its really pretty simple, "cap & trade" will generate billions for the government in new taxes. Taxes on energy. Things like electricity to light your home. If the power company in your area uses a coal fired generation plant, it will need to buy "credits" from the government for its emissions. The more the emissions they more they have to buy. But guess what, the credits are not limitless. They can't just keep buying. And even if they could, who do you think they will look to for their money, let see, how about their customers. Which mean your rates go up.

Now it doesn't stop there, every industry in the country will need to buy these credits, the government gets billions in new income and consumers pay more. That's a tax no matter what you call it. That means companies who are struggling will need to pay out more to the federal government which means less jobs, less expansion, period. Now with the economy in the shape its in, why would you do such a thing? Because it supports the Obama agenda that's why.

Democrats in the House are cutting deals with members on any and everything they can think of to get this passed on Friday. This is one of the largest votes in the history of the country and where is the media coverage? Nowhere. Why ? Because if the word gets out, they know pressure will increase on the politicians not to pass it. If you don't want your gas, oil, electricity or other bills to go up. If you don't want to pay out for for durable goods, if you don't want to pay more for cars. If you would like to find a better job, or in some cases a job period. If you would like to see the economy start moving forward and unemployment go down. If you want America to once again become the engine of growth for the world. If any or all of these things apply to you, get off your butt, get on the phone, write, e-mail, send up signal flares if needed, to your Congressman, make your voice heard!

Tell these people they won't be coming back next year if they support this bill. If we don't stop the Obamanation that is our President, we will all be paying for it for decades to come. Paying for it, literally.

The Obama press conference - Is the "Honeymoon" with the Press really Over?

The story behind the press conference yesterday. Yes, the press was following up a little more. Yes, they asked a few more direct questions. You can't forget that he did call on Fox News. It was also his first day time press briefing. None of that matters. Those are the things the main stream media is talking about today.

A couple things you need to look at. First, when pressed on Iran and his response, Obama was telling everyone in the room, he had been "consistent". Americans know, the one thing Obama has been consistent on is being inconsistent when it comes to Iran. The next thing, he dodged the question several times about his still wanting to meet with Ahmadinejad and his government. No matter what happens he won't give up "his" agenda, regardless if its right or not. It was so bad that he would not even say if the Iranians were still invited to US Embassies for the 4th of July Holiday. (Hot Dog Diplomacy?)

Another thing to think about, the second question Obama took yesterday was from the Huffington Post, I have no problem with this. The problem I have is that it was a setup question and Obama knew it. Its the question that no one is talking about. Obama admitted that he knew the protesters in Iran were watching him and his every word. He actually responded to a question from an Iranian protester through the Huffington Post. I give the Huffington Post all the credit in the world for being able to get such a question to the President. My problem is with the person responding to the question. This man knows and admits it, that the protesters were looking to him, and he refused on purpose to speak out. They were not asking him to invade Iran, they were looking for America to take their side in an ideological struggle.

Another thing, why no questions on North Korea? That's simple, you can ask all the questions you want, Obama has no answers. The press did not want to put him on the spot and make him look bad. Wait, I thought we were being told the "honeymoon" with the press was over. Hold on, its was the press who was telling us that.

The FN Patrol Bolt Rifle - A Shooter's best kept Secret

For all the people out there looking to buy a "sniper" grade rifle, but you don't want to spend thousands, this is the rifle you might want to consider. It's the FN Patrol Bolt Rifle (PBR). I bought one of these about 3 years ago and it has become my favorite do all bolt rifle. The sad part is that FN may not be making it any more as a regular catalog item.

What this rifle brings is something unique. Its a short barrelled rifle, you can get it in 18", 20", 22" or 24". The rifle is chambered in either 308 Winchester or 300WSM. The longer barrels are standard on the 300. This rifle was designed as the name would suggest, with law enforcement personnel in mind. It features a detachable 4 round mag and comes with a Hogue stock, later versions came out in an olive drab green color as an option. The rifle is basically an updated Winchester Model 70 action. Its a great operating, non failing system. The rifle comes with pre- mounted scope bases and is finished in a matte black color and is coated with a Teflon like finish.

This is were the rifle is unique, in the 18" version, loaded with Federal Gold Medal Match ammunition, this rifle will launch the 168 Sierra Match King Bullet into less than 1 inch groups at 100 yards, all day long. Most rifles designed for "sniper" or "marksman" use are much bigger and weigh much more. This rifle comes in just a hair under 9lbs, the accuracy I'm talking about is with the 18" barrel. In a rifle designed for this type of use this is not unheard of accuracy, as a matter of fact, the top weapons will cut that group by 40% or 50%. Most however come with 22" or 24" barrels and weigh close to 12lbs or more. This rifle is designed to be put in a trunk in a case and deployed quickly by as the name implies, a patrol officer.

This rifle will take factory ammo and deliver accuracy needed for rescue shots that a police officer may need to take. It was made to be small and light weight, easy to transport and quick to deploy. For a rifle in this class its very small. Mine shoots less than 3/4" groups with a Leupold Mark 4, mounted on top. The Hogue stock provides for a great grip even if the rifle is wet. Its short length makes it quick to swing around. Its medium weight contour barrel seems to shoot better as it gets hotter. This rifle will take a lot of abuse from the operator and it will still deliver when needed.

This is a purpose built weapon, if you are looking for a rifle like this its very hard to beat the combination of size and accuracy it offers. The other nice thing is the price, most times I have seen this rifle for sale under $700. Compared to other rifles in this class, that's close to half price. If you want a medium sized game rifle, this will give you the ability to shoot a deer in the eye ball at most hunting ranges. If you need a predator rifle, it will fill that role as well. The 308 Win. itself is a popular hunting round in its own right. If you want a rifle made to shoot more than paper, this is a cost effective way to go. A shooter's best kept secret, for sure.

What do OJ Simpson & Kim Jong Il have in Common? - Hint: Its not the fact they are both Killers

How about a slow speed chase. This thing with the North Korean ship, the Kang Nam is like watching OJ drive down the LA freeway. Its apparent the Obama administration does not know what to do about the ship, if they did, they would have done it.

North Korea is threatening a military response if we stop it, kind of like Simpson waiving around threatening to kill himself. Sooner or later, just like OJ this thing will dock somewhere, if they like us Obama will try to get them to search the ship, if they don't I guess we are outta luck.

Again, like the low speed chase, the ship can't get away. Kim Jong Il sent this thing out on purpose to test the administration and its working. If we don't stop it we look weak, if we do we violate that "harsh" United Nations resolution we got from the security council.

I wonder if we could get red and blue flashing lights on the USS John C. McCain, the destroyer following the Kang Nam. Maybe if we painted the ship white and put a "Ford" logo on it it might help, who knows? One things for sure, Obama doesn't.

Don't forget Pakistan

With all the things going on in the world its easy to forget about any one area. Lets hope Pakistan is not one of those areas. The Pakistani military is carrying out air strikes along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border. They have moved ground troops into the South Waziristan area and are preparing for a major assault on this Taliban and Al-Qaeda stronghold.

This is being combined with the U.S. missile strikes in the tribal regions to hopefully destroy the militants. One problem Pakistan is facing is that they have not by their own numbers killed or captured many of the Taliban. When they went into the SWAT valley over 2 month's ago, they estimated that there were approximately 4500 to 5000 militants there. Now they are claiming they have killed about 1300 to 1500, that's somewhere under 33%. That means that the bulk of these fighters have left and have moved into the North and South Waziristan areas.

That could be a big problem for the Pakistani military in the future. The areas they are moving into are very mountainous and remote. They are finding large underground tunnel complexes dug hundreds of feet into the hillsides. These will be hard to clear and could lead to large military loses. Another area of concern for the Pakistani military is that they are bombing these areas using fixed wing aircraft, that's fine but they are reportedly destroying more homes than they are doing harm to the militants.

Don't forget they have over 2 million refugees that will need to be resettled from SWAT and other areas. Pakistan is trying to get this uprising under control and they appear to be holding their own and winning some major battles along the way. Bombings are still continuing on a semi-regular basis, keeping the entire country on its toes. They have a long way to go, unless they continue the offensive including through winter, which in that region is long and very bad, they will lose the momentum they have built up. We can't forget that Pakistan is the only Islamic nation with nuclear weapons and as such they have a special place in the world. Unfortunately for them this means a lot of crazy people want to be in that place with them.

To all the Obama fans: Grow Up & Get a Grip!

After reading some of your comments it seems that clarification on some points may be required. Let me be clear, I not apologizing for anything, I'm simply trying to get information into your heads without the Obama spin, if you want that, watch NBC or ABC.

First, health care, the defense people are offering is that these are not "his" bills being tossed around. Fact, he won't offer a complete bill because he can't. He knows that if the numbers come out the bill is sunk. Obama is doing what he did on the "Stimulus Bill", letting congress take all the hits. He is not leading, he is "suggesting" what he wants in the bills. That is not how a true leader does things. Fact, every bill that comes out is "his" bill, without him pushing the idea forward, there would be no debate on the issue at all. Fact, Obama has said he was open to taxing health care benefits people now receive. This was very similar to the idea John McCain advanced during the campaign, to deny that is a pure lie. Fact, the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) is to be non-partisan, even so congress is controlled by the Democrats. The CBO estimates are nearly always low. It is their numbers that are saying the Kennedy proposal would cost over $1 trillion, not counting interest, over a 10 year period. Fact, Charlie Rangle the House committee chair on this issue, is the person who is talking about being $600 billion short and needing to find taxes. Since he is a Democrat, do any of you Obama supporters believe he would veto a health care bill that came to his desk because those tax increases were in it? I think not. Fact, Obama is the person who has told his supporters more than once, he needs to get health care done this year and if he does not, he probably won't get it. If you can prove anything I have said is inaccurate please feel free to do so, other than push left wing spin

Now with North Korea, lets see, we are following a junked up old boat around because we believe it may have weapons parts on it. Ok, why don't we just stop it and find out? Maybe because the tough resolution we got from the United Nations, after the North tested a nuclear weapon, makes it very clear, we can not use force to stop or board the ship. If we stop it and we are wrong, meaning no weapons, we look foolish and we are risking a military response from North Korea. If we don't stop it, we look foolish because we are letting the North get away with whatever they want. Not very good choices. The reason we are in this position is because we put ourselves there. The resolution from the UN is full of holes and we know it. The US wanted something from the UN to make it look like we accomplished something, so we got it. A key phrase attached to Obama has been "No Substance", this resolution is exactly that, looks good until its tested and then it folds. Obama has repeated the line "we won't reward bad behavior", good, but so what? The North is talking about launching a new ICBM at Hawaii, what are we doing here, letting him practice until he gets it right? Missile defense was cut in the budget for next year by over $1 billion, that's just a fact, like it or not. The Pentagon responds to the Commander in Chief, in this case President Obama.

Iran, simple and he admits it. Fact, Obama won't say anything that's to critical because he wants talks with them as soon as possible. Great, except they don't want to talk with us. The signs the demonstrators are carrying are in English, one even asked where President Obama was, do you think they are for other marchers to see or maybe its for our consumption more than theirs. Fact, even the White House has acknowledged they "got out a little slow" on this. Fact, if we talk with Iran now after everything going on there, we sell out our ability to hold ourselves above tyrants and thugs. If Obama meets with them, he legitimizes them and what has taken place will be seen as not important. Fact, Obama believes and has said so, that the Israel/Palestine issue is the reason for unrest in the Middle East and Iran fuels its, and he's right. He goes off the reservation when he believes he can force Israel to make peace. Israel can not nor will it make peace with a group of people who refuse to believe they should even exist. Can any rational person say they blame them for that? Fact, HAMAS just reaffirmed that last week to former President Jimmy Carter. That being the case, why are we pressuring Israel?

Now, you may not like what I have just said, but find any part where I am misleading you. The truth is a funny thing, when you want to believe in someone or want to support him so badly, sometime you just don't want to hear it or you try to rationalize things away. That's fine if it works for you. Do not insult the rest of us with your dreams, hopes or wishes. Yes I wish everything was fine and grand, but its not. Obama is great at speech's, that no one can argue, he is a very compelling speaker for sure. Sometimes talking is not whats needed, as president he needs to lead the free world and he is not doing that. He is trying to advance his agenda over all else, again why not support the protesters with a strong statement of solidarity? Solidarity, look up that word one time.

Russia offers large nuclear reductions - With a Large Catch

News Flash: Russia wants to cut nuclear stockpiles if we cut missile defense. Now that's stunning. Over the weekend, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced Russia would very much like to start deep cuts into into its nuclear warhead stock pile. This is true Reagan diplomacy, peace through strength, problem is, we ain't got a Ronald Reagan.

The Russians want to reduce their stock pile if we agree not to pursue our missile defense program in Eastern Europe. President Bush signed a deal with Poland and the Czech Republic to place the missile defense systems in their country. Obama comes to office and sends his "secret" letter even before being sworn in, that said we won't deploy the systems, in other words, going back on our word, given in writing. Obama is such a fool, the Russians are scared to death of this system, why? Because it renders their offensive capacity next to worthless. If you are not going to launch a missile against someone, why would you care about this?

This is true "Reagan ism" at its finest. Think about this, the Russians are panicking over a purely defensive system, you can not attack somebody with this thing. Now they offer to give up nukes over it, but not to worry, the genius in the White House will no doubt cave in and not deploy it. What are they going to do if we go ahead with the plans, get mad and not talk to us for a week or two? Gee, I wonder if Obama has enough upstairs to maybe tell the Russians that it would be nice to have a little help with North Korea? In exchange, we could offer to not deploy any more of them in Europe. Maybe squeeze Iran and we won't spread the technology around, say to Israel or maybe the Ukraine, not a bad idea is it? But no, we don't want to do something that's confrontational or something that could upset our adversaries, our friends yes, our enemies no way.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for President Obama, he is going to Moscow on a visit in July, 6th to the 9th, if he stands up he has a chance to become a true leader on the world stage, if he backs down, he will be viewed by history as inept and naive.Reagan was a great leader and the world viewed him as such, Obama has yet to prove he can lead anything other than television coverage. He has failed to lead on Iran, he has failed to lead on North Korea, he is failing at the American economy. He has a chance to make his mark in history, a chance to reduce in a meaningful way nuclear weapons. If he gives in, he will have failed again. The American nation does best when it leads through strength, not world consensus or popular opinion. Nor do we look good when we abandon our friends and allies.

Govt Health Care - $600 Billion in new Taxes + Tax on your Health Care Benefits!

New reports are coming out with details about different versions of the government health care plan. None of these are very attractive when you view the cost. By the CBO estimate it will cost at least $1.2 trillion to cover just 35% of those uninsured. Hows that for government efficiency? Remember this is the government that can't make anything run well, never has.

Rep. Charles Rangle (D-NY) comes out over the weekend and admits after being pushed that they need to find at least, get this, $600 billion in news taxes, $600 billion! Using the Kennedy plan, that seems to be a favorite among liberals, it would cover approximately 35% of those not covered now, at a cost of $1.2 trillion. To cover everyone under that plan would cost $3.5 trillion, that's right $3.5 trillion! The $600 billion in taxes was based on the $1.2 trillion number, not covering everyone.

Another popular plan has medical benefits being taxed if you receive them from your employer. That's right, taxing your health care, the very same thing Obama and the Democrats attacked John McCain for during the election, how about that, Obama lied again. This tax would effect 1 of 8 workers in the country. Here's a news flash, union members would be exempt, you read that right union members would be exempt from the tax on health care benefits! Please pay attention for a second, if you are a union member, Democrat, Republican, somewhere in between, if you support this bill, never come back to this site again, leave and leave now.

For all you Obama voters out there, how do any of you propose to pay for this, we don't have any money? For the rest of you, call your Senator or Congressman and let them know your feelings on this issue. Write them, fax them, call them, send carrier pigeons if needed. If your law maker votes for these bills, you need to make it clear they won't be back next year. This health care bill could pull the plug on the American economy, already on life support.

Iran - The Worst Case Scenario

The worst case scenario in Iran, that's a little complicated. One thing is for sure, Obama's "open hand" approach is a failure. The Ayatollah comes out calling the US the "Great Satan" telling his people we are to blame for the election protests. This was before Obama even said boo. Other than he did not want to "meddle" in their elections.

The real issue here is that after these protests, will the ruling clerics become closer to Ahmadinejad and his radical crowd. The Revolutionary Guard is the real power base in Iran, if they remain loyal to the president, who in turn follows the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's directions and wishes, it will only strengthen Ahmadinejad's position. It could have the effect of cementing him in power for years to come. The exact opposite of what of what the protesters want.

If the military and president bring the country back under control and more or less hand control back over the the clerics, at least in public, the military regime will be on the same power level as the clerics themselves. This is a big problem for the rest of the world. These are hard line Islamic radicals, bent on nuclear weapons at all costs. It appears that this scenario may actually be starting to play out. Calls from Khamenei have failed to stop the protests. They have turned to the use of force, which will only increase until its put down completely.

The signs things may be getting worse in Iran would include the spreading of the protests to outside Tehran. We just don't know if this is occurring, if it is, this is a bad sign for the government. Another sign would be if the protesters try to disrupt the oil flow from the country, either by force or by work strikes and walkouts. If either of these take place, the military will crackdown with overwhelming force to stop the protests.

The only question left is will the military and the guard units and their militias follow through if called on to bring the protests to a violent end. If they crack, this could spread, if they stay together under Ahmadinejad this will elevate him in status and power for sometime to come. In either case, Obama should not meet with or deal with Ahmadinejad in any way. The rest of the world can also isolate him, no meetings no trade deals, nothing. If Germany, Italy, France, Japan and China stopped its trade with Iran, which totaled $20 billion last year, it would really crimp down on the regime. A move like that would take real leadership from the United States, something we haven't seen so far from this administration.

Don't forget North Korea

As things continue to go on in Iran, what about the rest of the world, like North Korea? The United States Navy is tracking a cargo ship called the "Kang Nam". The ship left a North Korean dock on Wednesday and for a while was hugging the Chinese coast line.

Now it is believed that the ship is headed to Myanmar. The USS John McCain will be in a position to intercept the ship soon if it is not there already. This is where the real deception from the United Nations and the Obama administration will start to show. If the navy challenges the ship, and it refuses to let them inspect it, then what? Under the UN sanctions we have no right to force compliance by the use of force. We are not even allowed to threaten the use of force.

With the North Koreans threatening to launch another long range ICBM toward Hawaii, possibly on the 4th of July, and now telling its people that last weeks meeting between the US and South Korea was a war meeting to plot their destruction things could get real interesting. This ship is no doubt nothing but a test to see what reaction the US will have. Kim is daring us to do something. Again, he is calling Obama's bluff.

The deception and lies that came out of our State Department about the tough new sanctions from the UN resolution, was nothing but a "pr" story, they knew the entire time that it had no teeth from the start. Obama wanted to look good for domestic purposes so they lied, end of story. North Korea is threatening war if we stop their ships, now what? Obama will try to find a face saving way to get out of this situation, maybe have the port where they dock inspect the ship or something similar. Most likely there is nothing of real value on the ship, maybe some kind of parts, but nothing critical. Its a test, a test of the emergency broadcast system, this is only a test.

President Obama - You claim to be a great leader? Show the world Now

Things continue to unfold in Iran, people are being injured and killed in the streets. These people are protesting for freedom, Mr. President, why will you not speak out in plain English telling them the United States stands with them and anyone who longs for freedom? Why will you not demand the protesters be treated fairly? Why do you worry about meddling in Iranian affairs? Do you even know what America has stood for for over 200 years?

How about instead of trying to find the "right" answer, finding the correct one? You claim to represent the minorities in this country, because they are some how oppressed? Why don't you turn on your television and see what oppression really is? These people want simple things, not universal health care or someone to pay their mortgage. They want what America has always stood for. Will they succeed, I don't know, probably not. These people are marching and dieing because they wanted their votes heard, they can't use cell phones, the web is blocked, the press had been booted out of the country and you cry because people need to show identification to vote.

What are you afraid of Mr.President, you won't get to meet with Ahmadinejad? Like anybody really believes he cares about what you think. Take a stand, that is what great leaders are made of, not stage shows, not magazine covers, not jokes and dinners. You have a chance to affect things in ways no one else in the world can, you wanted the job as leader of the free world, now stop whining and go out and do it!

"Survivalist's" Go Mainstream - Again

I was going to call this article something like "preparedness takes on a whole new meaning", but I changed my mind. We as a culture have experienced the growth of a "survivalist mindset". What I mean by that is more and more people are preparing for some type of disaster, either natural of man made.

Several things have contributed to this, first was 9/11. Then hurricane Katrina. Those would have to be at the top of the list. Now things have changed and not for the better. The economy is in the tank, people believe we may suffer a total economic collapse if something is not done and done so. The other thing is, and how crazy is this, we are now deploying military assets to protect Hawaii and Alaska from North Korea. You would not want to bet that food and water sales and storage haven't increased there.

What has changed in the past few decades is what Americans call a "survivalist". Many have a view that they are people living in small towns, or that they have some kind of "retreat" somewhere to run to and hide. Some think they have "bomb shelters" in their basements full of supplies. I think to understand these people, we need to understand ourselves and our nation. During the cold war, it was not uncommon at all to have food, water and other supplies in your basement. It was a different time, "duck and cover" drills in schools, fall out shelters in all the major public buildings, we military aircraft on "strip alert", B-52's standing by or in the air 24/7, with nukes on board, a different world to be sure.

When the wall came down so did the public view of the danger we face. All the nightmare scenarios went away in the public mind and to a certain extent they were right. Liberal politicians came to office, notice I said liberals, not Democrats. In the Clinton era alone, the military was gutted using what they called the "peace dividend". Bases were closed, people were laid off, the standing military was shrunk, equipment programs shelved and so on. When people started seeing the government act this way, many just followed along. They adopted the same view. When 9/11 happened they were caught totally by surprise and were unprepared. How many of you can remember the pictures from Katrina when people came walking out 2 days after the water started rising saying they had no food, or any idea where to go? Did anyone ask why these people had no food in their homes or bother to tell them if they had a $10.00 radio they may know where to go? How about a flash light for the dark, no.

Now we are faced with a world in turmoil and our own economy near collapse in many areas. What was once a kook in a cabin, is now your next door neighbor. Shelters and "safe rooms" are big hits now in homes of people who can afford them, you just don't hear people talking about it at the grocery store. What worries me is that the current governments view of these people is somewhat blurry. They release reports from DHS profiling a possible terrorist, high on that list were people who store away supplies like food, water and guns. Veterans, bet me how many of these guys don't have some type of "doomsday plan" and supplies to match. Religious groups, Ok, now lock up the entire state of Utah and the Mormon Church. The list goes on, believe me it does, I have a copy and its interesting to say the least.

The mainstream media cover these people like there is something wrong with them, which is incorrect. Most are no different than say their parents or maybe their grand parents were. The difference is that the public view of what they are doing has changed. Many, many people hide their preparations and don't tell anyone what they are doing, so as not to look like a nut. If you have a family, you need to think of them not just yourself. Under normal circumstances you take care of them as best you can, why would it be any different in an emergency? That's when they could need your help the most. Whats your plan, wait on the government to rescue you?

Being prepared for the worst is an American tradition of sorts. It looks like that tradition is making a pretty big comeback. If you are not a "traditional" person, now might be a good time to start.

Iraq, the reason Obama is silent on Iran

People keep talking about President Obama and Iran, they want to know why he won't speak up for the protesters. I heard Bill O'Rielly last night give his thoughts on the issue. He proposed that Obama does not want to criticize the Ayatollahs because they could whip up problems in Iraq and that would endanger the troops. O'Reilly came at it from the point of protecting U.S. troops on the ground in Iraq.

I agree with 90% of what he said, except I don't believe he has a concern for our troops. I believe that it would be possible for Iran to cause problems for us in Iraq, they have in the past. I also believe it is probable that they would try and do just that. Where we part ways in the motivation behind it. First off, what this theory is proposing is a form of blackmail from Iran which is no doubt possible. That fact alone would cause most Americans to speak up louder.

Second, the most important part is the Obama agenda. His political agenda is the reason, he does not want to get bogged down in Iraq. He made huge campaign promises to people, the biggest was getting troops out of Iraq. Now that he has set a date certain, he has created himself a timeline he must follow or face a revolt from the left. Remember the left is not to pleased that he is committing more troops to Afghanistan as it is, if we had to stay in Iraq as well it would fracture his party. Also don't forget if things flare up in Iraq, the commanders will want more troops not less. They are just getting ready to depart the bases in the major Iraqi cities. If Mooky Sadar comes home from Iran he will cause trouble in the cities with his militia.

Obama can not afford to get his hands tied with his grand plans he has under way. The left would demand a pullout from Iraq, regardless of what the military wanted. We would end up running out of Iraq which would cost him and his party dearly in the mid-term elections. Maybe his re-election. If we stayed and fought it out, when the body count goes up and more troops are required, the liberals on the left will go completely nuts. He would lose them and he would then face a united Republican party who will not help him get his agenda passed.

You see I believe that Obama wants what he wants and he and his advisers are making cold political decisions trying to get it. Obama has shown no great love for the military, he cuts their budget and restricts their operations. I believe Obama does not want to have the Iranians trying to cause problems in Iraq, plus he still thinks he can talk to them and persuade them out of their weapons program. I just don't believe that he is that noble, that he is just looking out for the troops. No, Obama is looking out for Obama and I think his actions prove it.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: Iran will not Fall

The supreme leader in Iran seems to be a little confused. He went public today telling the protesters that they need to yield to the election results. He supports the results by saying that there was an 11 million vote spread and asking how could that be faked? Under normal circumstances he would have a good point, but this ain't normal.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is pretty much telling people the election is over, forget your protests. One thing I picked up from his speech was he must believe we are in a different time. Seems the Ayatollah knows history. He made a point of telling everybody that Iran will not be like the former Soviet Union and eastern Europe, Iran will not fall.

Unfortunately I believe he is right. Not because it could not happen, but because has I have said before, it would take leadership by the United States. Rest easy Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Barack Obama is no Ronald Reagan.

North Korea ups the Ante - US deploys naval assets to protect Hawaii

It looks like North Korea may be upping the stakes. If Japanese military intelligence reports are correct, and it appears they are, launching a missile in the direction of Hawaii by some peoples standards would be considered an act of war. I guess I would be part of "some people". The problem is that I don't believe Obama is.

The United States Navy is deploying more vessels to ring Hawaii and the approach to Alaska. These ships are equipped with interceptor missile's and the accompanying targeting systems. Alaska has ground based interceptors in place as well. The reports are that the North will launch a ICBM, sometime in the next 30 days, probably around the 4th of July knowing the North. It should be understood that the very systems we are putting on alert are the same systems that have been cut by about $1.5 billion next year. Smart, real smart.

The other thing going on is that we are tracking a North Korean ship with what we believe to contraband items. Remember that the UN resolution does not authorize the use of force to board or inspect the ship. Better yet, how stupid and gullible does the Obama administration think the American people are, apparently pretty stupid. Think about this, if the North wanted to ship missile parts or some type of nuclear weapons components, why not just put them on a plane? The UN resolution did not give the US the right to fly combat air patrols and intercept planes, which we are very capable of doing.

If the North puts the missile on the pad, we should make it clear that we will destroy it before they launch it. Its time to stop playing community organizer and grow up. This is simply a test of the resolve of Obama and what better way to test fire another missile and gain valuable test information and data. Parts of the United States itself is now in range, stories abound about the North Korean chemical weapons program and stocks. The media seems to believe that they would only use those weapons on South Korea, do want to bet your life on the New York Times, or maybe MSNBC?

We have F-22's on alert, we can place 3 carrier battle groups in the Norths back yard, each with 65 to 70, F/A 18 strike aircraft, not to mention the Air Force's ability to strike at will any target is chooses with long range bombers such as the B-2. It may be time to put a little bit of American military might on display, just to remind everybody, we are still the worlds only real superpower. We can not allow a tin pot dictator to threaten the United States, directly or indirectly. Let there be no doubt about the issue, we can stop any missile launch, if we had taken a stronger stance when they launched their "satellite" a couple months ago, we might no be here.

To show weakness only encourages aggression, a lesson that history has repeated time and again. Maybe when Obama gets done trying to rewrite history, he could stop and read some instead. Lets hope he has a night light on when the real phone call comes at 3:00 in the morning.

Bush to Obama: Government will Not Save the Economy

President George W. Bush has finally broken his silence over the happenings in the country. He was in Erie last night speaking to members of a local business organization, he did something he would not do when he was in office, he started talking like the old George Bush. "W". He told the group " I know its going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we're in". "You can spend your money better than the government can".

He went on to say, "Government does not create wealth. The major role of government is to create an environment where people take risks to expand the job rate in the United States", to huge cheers. Bush made it clear that he had tried to stop the housing bubble before it burst. "We tried to reform mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddi Mac, but we couldn't get it through the vested interests on Capitol Hill".

Bush came to the Iranian issue with , "Clearly, there is a level of frustration on the Iranian streets". He further stated, "It looks like its not a very fair election". He repeated the idea that the United States needs to press freedom and democracy across the world. When pressed about Obama being a socialist, Bush gave a telling answer, "We'll see". Not exactly a strong statement of support, no denial in that was there? Apparently Bush was a big hit, he got more cheers than Penn State coach Joe Paterno. If the "Washington Times" says Bush was loose and relaxed, you never know what they will say next.

The Ruger Mini-14, The "Poor Mans Assault Rifle", Not!

Recently Ruger Firearms has updated its tried and true Mini-14 series of rifles. They have some pretty neat stuff out there now. The main knocks on the Mini were always that it was plain, not very accurate and did not use M16/AR15 magazines. Two of the three have been addressed by Ruger. I guess that since Ruger is now making an AR15 of their own, they will let the Mini stand as its own line indefinitely.

The Mini-14 is very close to a shrunken full size M-14. They operate very similarly, the magazines are inserted in the same basic way as in the M-14, and the original guns came with wooden stocks just like the M-14. The main difference in these two weapons is caliber, the original M-14 is a 7.62/308 weapon. The Mini-14 is in 223Rem. Do not confuse the Mini-30 with the M-14 either. The Mini-30 is Rugers Mini-14 on steroids, it fires the 7.62x39mm, Russian round most commonly know in the AK-47. No, before you ask, they do not take AK-47 mags.

The Mini is marketed as a sporting rifle, owners bought them and then added tons of after market parts to turn them into something else. It has to be one of the most accessorized rifles made. Ruger had offered very little for their rifles until recently. In the past they made what was known as the "GB" version of the weapon. It was marketed toward government and law enforcement sales, it had a flash suppressor and a bayonet lug, it was also offered which a normal wooden stock or a factory folder. This is the best folding stock you can get for the Mini anywhere.

Ruger has brought out new versions listed as their tactical rifles. For most these will be the ones to buy. They offer a neat combination in that you can get the Ranch Rifle version, which comes with integral scope bases and free rings or the plain open sight version, its up to you. The "Black Ranch Rifle" is in my view the best buy, you can leave the rifle as is and use the open sights if you so choose, or you can mount a scope on the rifle in less than 2 minutes and now you have a completely different weapon. Both come with a 20 round magazine, Ruger is now selling them to the public not just law enforcement.

The rifle is just over 3 feet long, not very large, it weighs in at about 8lbs. It comes with a 1 in 9 twist rate which is good for heavier rounds like 62 and 64 grain. They both come with the dreaded flash hider, one even has a collapsible stock. Its important to know that the last assault weapons ban did not affect the Mini, other than the "GB" models. These probably would fall under a new such ban. The rifles themselves are very reliable and the accuracy while not on par with the upper end of the AR-15 market, is more than acceptable for their intended purpose. Sitting at a bench, resting the weapon it shoots just over an inch at 100 yards. More than enough to get the job done, whatever the job may be.

If you were in the military and were issued the M-14, and you are looking for a smaller caliber weapon these new Mini's are a good choice. If you already have or had one, you will be surprised how much nicer they are. If you are looking for a good solid rifle that can do double duty, these rifles again will fit the bill. One nice thing about them, and it has always been one reason they have sold so well in the past, is their price. They cost about 65% to 70% of a good quality AR-15. Its not really a poor mans assault rifle anymore.

The White House unemployment Spin going Full Speed

The new unemployment numbers for last week came out today, and as per normal the press is trying to spin it to look good. When its not. The headline "US jobless rolls drop sharply to nearly 6.7 M". Is designed to make you think unemployment is dropping, when if you read the article, its not.

After they get done telling you how the unemployment rolls fell by 148,000, and how that's the biggest drop in years, they give you the good news. Initial claims for unemployment rose by 3000 people, which is above analyst's expectations. But how could that be? If the total number of people collecting unemployment fell, how did more new claims get filed?

Because the Obama spin machine is going full speed, that how. Now what the article doesn't tell you is that the reason less people are collecting unemployment is because they have exhausted their benefits and have fallen off the rolls, or how about they are now collecting the federal benefits not state. The press is smart, they carry Obama's water but won't trap themselves completely, they throw in little disclaimers like giving tid bits of information to keep the story legitimate, you just have to read through the entire story to find it buried near the bottom.

The other thing that did not add up is that the report claims 2.36 million people are collecting benefits under an extension granted twice by the federal government, one of which was Obama's stimulus package. They are claiming that number has also risen by 102,000 from the previous week, dated from May 30th. These people are in addition to the 6.7 million people on the 26 week programs offered by most states.

They even concede in the report that most experts now believe the unemployment rate will reach 10% by the end of the year. The Obama administration promised people that the unemployment rate would not go above 8% if they got their stimulus plan, now its at 9.4%. The administration said they under estimated how bad the economy was, in other words they made a mistake. Obama screwed up! They claim nobody knew it would go this high, now that just a lie. Half the country told these nit wits unemployment would hit 10%. Also, watch for a revision on the job loss numbers in May, the 340,000 will get pushed up by a large margin. ADT payroll services came out two days before the government numbers, with their numbers showing a "private sector" job loss number of 520,000. What happened to that?

People can believe what they choose, they can believe their own eyes, or they can listen to Obama. The choice is yours just remember, when the federal money runs outs which it will, you can't spend his promises.

Hamas Tells Jimmy Carter - No Thanks!

The former President wants to remove Hamas from the Terrorist Watch List, because he states they are being treated like animals. Fine, then he says he feels "responsible" for what is going on in Gaza because US weapons are being used. Carter sneaked his way into Gaza with a United Nations Convoy, which they tried to blow up on his way out, Fine.

Carter asked the leadership of Hamas to recognize the right of Israel to exist as a country. Today the leadership of Hamas responded with the following answer. They feel it is not possible to have a Jewish state exist in a Muslim region of the world.

Great, how is that going over with most sane people. The real problem in the Middle East is simple, many of the Islamic groups in the region will not accept the fact the Israel exists, period. And as such they won't ever accept a two state solution, maybe someone should contact the White House with this news flash.

Does this look Familiar to You? It may be Happening Again

The Iranian leaders look like they are tiring of the protests over the elections. They have ordered armored troops from the Revolutionary Guard to be deployed in and around the capital city of Tehran. It is being reported that people were being arrested including a former Vice President and advisor to former President Khatami along with three other reformist politicians.

Mir Hossein Moussavi is not heeding calls from the countries supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei to have his followers stand down and to protest peacefully. It appears that Moussavi has instructed his followers to gather at Mosques well as on the street. The leadership has also flown in Special IRGC security and police forces to help deal with the opposition and its leaders.

It appears that the only web site up and running in Iran is Moussavi's and he is using it to call followers to demonstrate. In the end, most would agree on how this will end unless there is some type of outside international intervention. The press is being frozen out, cell phone service is cut, web access is also being blocked. This could end up making the Chinese Tiananmen Square incident look like a pebble on a gravel road, a long and bumpy gravel road that has been well traveled.

Germany: Gold in Vending Machines!

Germany is now putting gold into vending machines, they are $40.00 wafers. You might ask why would they do that? Because they lived through a period where their money became worthless. They are simply trying to encourage their citizens to put their money in something safe. The period after World war 1, was marked by a world wide depression, Germany suffered more than most trying to pay war debt to the victors. Adolf Hitler grew from those times, Germany has more first hand experience in this type of spiral than any country on earth. They are not embracing the Obama new world order. As a matter of fact, Europe showed that in its elections last week, they are moving to the right fast.

Buying gold can serve different purposes, in this case it is doing more than making people feel good. What it should be telling us in America, is that the world knows how bad this could get, but out government doesn't. Obama has an amendment inserted into a bill funding the military, that has the United States giving the International Monetary Fund $5 billion, how? We don't have any money! We are borrowing money from the Chinese to pay out debt service. Gee, I don't know why anybody would be worried about the United States economy, do you? Since we are the engine that drives the world, that's a big problem for everybody.

Lets hope in this case, the idea that a European Nation trying to promote gold sales to its citizens is a wake up call in America.

Obama: He Is No Ronald Reagan!

The head of the IAEA, the United Nations nuclear watchdog group, flat out said it is his assessment that Iran wants nuclear weapons, period. Dr.Mohammed El Baradei is telling anyone who will listen, obviously not the Obama administration, that Iran wants nuclear weapons and they see it as a road to being recognized as a major Middle East power.

El Baradei stated that " it is his gut feeling that Iran would like to have technology to enable it to have nuclear weapons - both as a message to their neighbors and the world, don't mess with us".

It would appear that most of the world, not just the Israelis are now concerned over the Iranian weapons program. Estimates range from 6 months to 5 years until they are completely weaponized.

It should also be noted that even though Obama was trying to invoke Ronald Reagan on D-Day, he is no Ronald Reagan, and that is the type of leader we need now. Reagan stood with the Warsaw Pact countries in the early and mid 80's when they demonstrated against the Soviet Union.

Even though the odds were long, he would not back down from his "convictions" and beliefs. The former Soviet Union was a much bigger challenge than Iran is now, they were already armed to the teeth with nukes. Reagan stood firm, he held America up and told the world we would stand with them if they wanted freedom. Obama doesn't want to meddle in the Iranian elections. It is pathetic for the President of the United States to make such a statement.

The world looks to America to lead, what they are seeing is an America that will not do anything in any way, that could endanger the Obama agenda. To be sure they are tied together, Obama is not a foreign policy president, he is busy trying to turn the country into a socialist state. Obama knows that any problems overseas will just distract from his domestic agenda. He also knows that defense related issues are his weakest point.

What the world needs now is a strong committed leader with principles and values. Principles and values that America was founded on. If the free world doe's not find that leader soon, we could be looking at a "cold war" gone "Hot".
